Patch to the world

October 31st, 2024

Three major arts markets in three countries in three weeks!

Our talented international producer Teena Munn has just returned from a trip to Asia to promote Patch's work.

With the support of our funding bodies, Teena attended three arts markets – Performing Arts Market in Seoul (PAMS) in Korea, Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HK PAX), and China Shanghai International Arts Festival (ChinaSPAF). This gave Patch the opportunity to be part of conversations with international organisations and artists, benchmark our work on the world stage, and connect with other Australians attending – sometimes the only chance to meet our national colleagues! Teena shares, "I made invaluable connections with existing presenting partners and forged many new ones, with presenters from around the world."

A networking event hosted by Australian youth arts companies. Attendees came from Canada, China, and Hong Kong among many others.

Patch is a world leader in children's performance, creating award-winning high-quality work that connects with 4–8 year olds and their families. Our unique performance style – featuring innovative usage of technology, spectacular lighting, and interactive elements – is highly regarded across the globe, having presented over 30 international tours.

We have already locked in some exciting adventures for 2025, including presenting our much-loved works across Asia (more details to come soon). Additionally, our in-theatre and new installation works are in high demand for 2026 and beyond.

Teena visited a Korean Palace the day she landed for a little zen before it all started.

Teena shares, "I had great conversations with presenters from Finland, Taiwan, Korea, Bangkok, Singapore, China, Canada and New Zealand – all interested in a variety of our works. I have returned with a big smile, knowing more of the world will be seeing Patch’s uniquely beautiful work in the future."

This trip was made possible thanks to support from Arts SA and Creative Australia.
