Sea of Light at Ten Days on the Island (Tasmania) marked the Australian premiere of a new addition to the installation – artworks by Contemporary Aboriginal Visual Artist Elizabeth Yanyi Close became part of the installation as they are painted in light across the sea floor. Elizabeth's work was enjoyed by audiences at festivals across the country who were invited to interact with the drawings on the glow floor.
"My paintings speak to the connection between land and sea, the earth and waterways and are informed by the diversity of the Australian landscape. They also reflect the deep relationship that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia have with Country.” – Elizabeth Close
In July we had a special showing of Sea of Light at Hawthorndene Primary School as part of their NAIDOC week event where Elizabeth played some tunes.
