Superluminal FAQs
November 7th, 2023Thinking about coming to Superluminal? We answer all of your sticky questions about our new interactive installation.
What is an interactive installation?
Interactive installations are participatory arts experiences for children and their families. Audiences move through the installation space (a series of interconnected rooms) engaging with hands-on experiences. Interactive installations are often presented outside of theatre spaces, at museums, galleries, and festivals.
Patch Theatre’s other interactive installations include Sea of Light and The Lighthouse – both of which received exceptional feedback from children and teachers. You can read more about the process of creating an interactive installation in this interview with Patch creators Geoff and Maddog.
What will we experience?
Superluminal is unlike a traditional seated theatre show. The sessions allow one class/group at a time to enter the installation, guided by a performer. As children move through the four rooms, we encourage exploration through play, movement, touch and vocal expression.
Teachers can watch Co-Directors Geoff and Zoë talk through the show in this video.
