We have wrapped up an outstanding premiere season of Superluminal, performing to over 13,000 attendees including more than 4,000 South Australian students.

The interactive style of Superluminal was perfect for 4–8 year olds and their families – countless children left in awe, clutching their glowing rocks and saying "I loved it!".

"Superluminal is a successful experiment in physically placing children at the center of an art experience, which has been Patch’s mission for the last 52 years. We created an interactive experience that was truly driven by children and allowed space for their imaginations and expert, innate ability to play.

As one child said to a performer during the show, ‘Oh, I see, you’re not the show – we are the show!’

Patch loves making theatre for 4–8-year-olds but knows what they really want is to play – to be on stage with us and be part of the action—and Superluminal allows them to do this. We found that the key to this was a more intimate approach, and by limiting our audience to 30 children at a time, we were able to give true agency to their experience.” – Geoff Cobham, Artistic Director
